The Department of Aid and Disaster Management is an important field that aims to train experts who have the ability to cope with natural and man-made disasters that society faces. Students of this department receive an education that will enable them to effectively manage emergencies, make fast and accurate decisions, and have coordination and leadership skills. They can also contribute to developments in this field by conducting scientific studies to reduce and combat disasters.

The main objectives of the section may be:

  1. Damage Reduction Capabilities: Improving disaster process damage reduction capabilities and producing strategies to minimize both material and human losses.
  2. Emergency Aid Techniques: To provide the ability to apply emergency aid techniques to patients and injured people and to develop the ability to perform life-saving interventions.
  3. ​Coordination and Management Skills: Increasing the skills to ensure coordination in disaster situations, to manage resources effectively, and to direct and manage the unit.
  4. Research and Development: To develop the ability to conduct scientific studies by following global developments in the field of disaster and emergency management and examining problems specific to Türkiye

​Graduates may have the opportunity to work in various institutions and organizations, from provincial directorates affiliated with the Disaster and Emergency Presidency (AFAD), to fire departments, the Red Crescent, civil defense search and rescue units, the private sector, non-governmental organizations, hospitals, schools and units affiliated with local governments, and international organizations.

It is important for students who choose this department to be individuals who are willing to help people, can make quick decisions, have good communication skills, are responsible and suitable for teamwork. In addition, they need to constantly follow current developments in order to use the knowledge and skills learned in the department effectively in practice.
